The Social And Public Health Problems Essay - 1579 Words

What factors and circumstances cause a person to end their life? This question plagues many people who have been affected by suicide, family, friends, doctors and other relationships that are one way connected to an individual who has committed this act. Not only has it affected people at a micro-level, but it became one of America’s biggest social and public health problems. We have to find the common social factors that trouble so many people in the United States. I believe that individuals who lack social integration in society are the primary factor in people committing suicide. People based their identities from the social relationships they establish and have to learn how to conform and meet the demands of those relationships. When there’s disparity in the integration of any of the relationships in their social institution, then it can cause a person to feel an imbalance in their life. â€Å"I want to understand suicide more in a sociological perspective. I’ve only looked at suicide as more of an individual problem and never accounted that there’s something bigger. The social factor is a variable that we have to consider when we are looking at preventing suicide.
